I would like to extend a huge congratulations and big thank you to Louth’s men Senior Team and their manager Ger Brennan on their Leinster Title victory yesterday in Croke Park.

After 68 years of a wait, you have given the people of Louth memories that will last a lifetime.

Yesterday was a day to be proud of for all, and to be grateful for the hard work and dedication that the players and the management put in each and every day.

My family and I have been avid Louth supporters all our lives. We have been to so many great days and some disappointing days over the last number of years, following this team up and down the country.

We have gotten to enjoy the talent and skill, whilst reaping the rewards of hours of dedication and determination on days like yesterday.

Yesterday’s result has lifted the county like something we have never seen before.  We are a wonderful sporting heartland here in Louth and to see the crowds in Croke Park, to see the crowds throng the streets of Drogheda, Ardee, and Dundalk dressed in the red and white adorned with flags, tears and smiles just shows it means everything to so many.

The GAA is about community, family and sportsperson ship and yesterday’s game was all of that and more.

It was bigger than I ever thought it could be. It made me feel so proud to be a Louth woman and share that moment with my family. We stood in the stand with tears in our eyes, trying to take every little bit in.

It was sublime, history is now made, and these players have given us and our children a tangible dream of lifting cups in Croke Park.

Congratulations to all players, management and staff, and thank you for the unforgettable memories.
