Senator Erin McGreehan welcomes commencement of construction of the Narrow Water Bridge
Louth Senator Erin McGreehan has welcomed the commencement of construction of the Narrow Water Bridge.
McGreehan said that the commencement of construction marks a very proud day for Louth.
She said: “This is a momentous day. As a Louth woman, I am extremely proud.
“This area has incredible history as well as beauty that, due to being in the border area and suffering economic hardship, is sometimes forgotten.
“The commencement of construction is the culmination of decades of work by many people. I am proud to be part of that list of people who have played a part.
“I consistently kept the Narrow Water Bridge as a top priority. Even when other parties proposed changes to it and tried to put up obstacles, I pushed for this bridge. I pushed for it because I believe that this region is the most beautiful in the country and it deserves this investment to secure its bright future.
“The bridge has always been something I have believed in and now, with the Commencement of Construction, it has become genuine, real and concrete proof that we are bringing people closer together.
“Today is a great day for north Louth and I have enormous confidence in the economic and social future of my region.”
