Local Fianna Fáil TD Erin McGreehan has warmly welcomed the allocation of €96,691.18 to Louth County Council for 8 biodiversity projects under the National Parks and Wildlife Service Local Biodiversity Action Fund (LBAF).
The LBAF, established in 2018, supports local authorities in implementing actions that promote biodiversity. Since its inception, almost €11 million has been awarded to local authorities nationwide through the scheme.
Deputy McGreehan said, “Louth County Council is playing a vital role in safeguarding our biodiversity, and the LBAF recognises that commitment. These projects will not only make a meaningful difference locally but also contribute to the broader efforts across all local authority areas.
“The LBAF empowers local authorities nationwide to enhance their efforts in biodiversity conservation. This includes vital research and documentation of unique species such as the Irish Mayfly, Woodland Bats, and Barn Owls, as well as the management of invaluable habitats like meadows and wetlands.
“This funding marks a positive step forward for Louth’s biodiversity. I extend my best wishes to everyone involved and look forward to seeing the projects progress.”
