Local Fianna Fáil TD Erin McGreehan has today welcomed over €269,655.23 in funding for projects across Louth under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2025 (BHIS).

The scheme supports property owners to conserve and enhance our historic buildings and streetscapes, and at the same time preserve and develop traditional building skills. This year’s grants will be used to repair, restore and protect historic structures from modest traditional homes to landmark public buildings.

Welcoming this investment, Deputy McGreehan said: “Our built heritage is a tangible expression of our history and culture, and a distinctive and attractive element of our towns, villages, cities, and countryside.

“I was delighted to receive confirmation from my party colleague and Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity Christopher O’Sullivan that Louth has been awarded over €269,000 under the BHIS to support 17 projects.  The funding includes € 14,392.23 worth of funding for one thatched roof projects.”

“Fianna Fáil in Government are committed to supporting communities to protect and conserve our shared built heritage and recognise that this relies on the dedication of many different parties, including owners and custodians, skilled craftspeople, and local authority experts. I want to thank Minister O’Sullivan for this important funding to support their efforts which is vital to ensure the survival of our shared architectural inheritance for future generations.”

Deputy McGreehan concluded by saying she looks forward to the works commencing.
