McGreehan welcomes publication of framework to digitally transform health services in Ireland

Louth Senator Erin McGreehan has welcomed the publication of a framework to digitally transform health services in Ireland and improve access for patients by her party colleague, the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly.

McGreehan said the framework, called ‘Digital for Care: A Digital Health Framework for Ireland 2024-2030,’ sets out a roadmap to digitally transform health services in Ireland and improve access for patients.

Senator McGreehan said: “I welcome the publication of this framework as both existing and future technologies play a critical role in shaping the Irish healthcare service.

“Patients will soon be able to access a patient app that will provide them with their important medical history and records. I also welcome the rollout of a ‘Shared Care Record’ under the framework, that will integrate patient records no matter what part of the health service they engage with.

“The publication of this framework underlines Fianna Fáil’s commitment to achieving our vision for a modern, patient-centred, and sustainable health service that uses the latest digital technology to enable the delivery of universal healthcare, improve the quality of care, promote health and wellbeing, enhance population health, expand capacity, increase efficiency and productivity, and reduce costs.”
