Local Senator and Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Children, Disability, Equality and Integration, Erin McGreehan, has welcomed an announcement on details of funding for early learning and childcare services.
The announcement outlines that there will be €331 million in funding provided directly to early learning and childcare services, which is a €44 million or 15% increase on last year.
She said: “The details announced by Minister Roderic O’Gorman today are positive news for early learning and childcare services in Louth.
“The increases will take effect in September 2024 and will support expanded capacity, particularly capacity for children under three and stability of income to services, particularly low-income services.”
McGreehan further welcomed that the Minister confirmed that steps taken around fee management will ensure that services will be able to make a permanent step towards a more stable financial position without compromising on overall affordability for parents/guardians.
“I am hopeful that these funding details will have a positive impact and that changes in childcare provision over the past couple of years can help parents as times are constantly changing and with them, childcare needs,” she said.
