Senator Erin McGreehan believes that he government’s Housing For All plan, designed to increase housing availability and affordability, is gaining momentum and making a real difference.
She said that the plan clearly outlines the progress being made to tackle the issue of housing.
“The latest Housing For All update shows the real progress Fianna Fáil in government is making tackling housing, which is the defining issue of this generation.
“The facts show that 22,443 new homes were completed in the first nine months of this year, and 30,000 homes were completed in 2022, representing the largest delivery of new homes in over a decade and exceeding that year’s Housing For All target of 24,600.
The Senator added that more people are buying their first home than in any period in well over a decade, supported by affordable purchased initiatives, including the First Home Scheme, the Local Authority Home Loan and Help-To-Buy, which has been extended to the end of 2023.
“Sinn Féin have said they would scrap these schemes if they got into power, blocking families from owning their family home. My party’s top priority remains doing everything we can do to help people to afford to buy or rent a home.
“The recent update shows that our plan is working and my focus is on doing whatever I can do to keep this positive momentum going. I will always be available to give whatever help I can. ”
