Fianna Fáil has selected Senator Érin McGreehan to contest the general election in the Co Louth constituency.

The Cooley-based Senator came out on top in a contest at a packed convention in the Fairways Hotel on last Thursday night.

There were four nominees for the position: Senator McGreehan and councillors Seán Kelly and Emma Coffey from Dundalk and John Sheridan from mid-Louth. The vote was by proportional representation, but a second count wasn’t deemed necessary.
