Local Fianna Fáil Senator Erin McGreehan has welcomed the launch of Ireland’s first ever Town Centre First Plans for 26 towns across every county announced today by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
As part of today’s launch, the Town Centre First Plan for Dunleer has been published. Dunleer will have a Town Regeneration Officer in place to manage the implementation of the Plan locally and to work with the Town Team made up of community representatives.
Welcoming the publication of the Plan, Senator McGreehan said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Town Centre First Plan for Dunleer has been published today. The plan has been developed through extensive consultation with the local community, focusing on the vision of local people for the town. It contains ambitious proposals to revitalise and renew Dunleer and to make it a better place to work, live and invest in. There are a diverse range of actions included under the Plan and I am looking forward to working with all stakeholders on its implementation.”
It was also announced today that Clogherhead has been identified as one of the 26 towns across Ireland that will develop a Town Centre First Plan as part of Phase 2.
Welcoming the news, Senator McGreehan said: “I am glad that Clogherhead will be supported with funding of €30,000 to complete a comprehensive town plan to help develop its town centre. This investment is all about giving the people of Clogherhead the tools they need to improve the town and make it a more attractive place in which to live, work, visit and invest. Fianna Fáil in Government will continue to prioritise investment in the regeneration and revitalisation of our towns.”
