Fianna Fáil TD, Erin McGreehan, has confirmed that local Family Resource Centres will receive increased core funding from January 2026.
This follows the rise in 2025 which set the minimum core funding level at €160,000. From next January the minimum allocation will increase to €180,000. Tusla, the Child and Family Agency which oversees the Family Resource Centre Programme, will provide the uplift directly to centres.
This will benefit 100 of the 126 Family Resource Centres around the country whose current funding is below the new €180,000 minimum level.
In Louth the following Family Resource Centres will receive an uplift to reach the new minimum of €180,000:
- Connect FRC will receive an extra €11,203.18;
- Dundalk Counselling Service will receive an extra €20,000.00.
Speaking about the announcement Deputy McGreehan said:
“Family Resource Centres are at the heart of life in towns and communities right across the country.
“This increase in annual funding will strengthen community based family support and help centres continue their essential work. They provide vital assistance to families through supports such as counselling, education, advocacy and local group activities.
“I’ve witnessed firsthand the remarkable work they do across Louth, and this increase for each centre will make a real difference to hundreds of families in our community.”
Some of the services provided by Family Resource Centres include guiding families to the services they need, providing counselling and emotional support, offering access to education and training, running after school and youth programmes, helping community groups organise and grow and giving practical support such as access to technology or advice on community initiatives.
