Deputy Erin McGreehan has said the Climate Action Summer Works Scheme will create better learning and working environments for students and staff.

The Climate Action Summer Works Scheme supports schools in improving the condition of buildings while delivering climate action measures that improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and lower operational costs.

The successful schools in Louth are Bush Post Primary School, Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Scoil Na mBraithre, Scoil Dairbhre, St Vincent’s Secondary School, and St Louis Secondary School.

Deputy McGreehan welcomed the news, particularly for Bush Post Primary School, as she attended the school herself.

“I want to congratulate each of the schools that have received approval for important projects under the scheme. This funding will assist schools in carrying out much-needed improvement work while also contributing to our national climate action objectives.

“The range of projects will help future-proof these schools and ensure they can continue to provide high-quality facilities for our young people.

“This investment is good news for students, teachers, and local communities, and I look forward to seeing these important projects progress in the months ahead.”

A total of €80 million in funding was announced by the Department of Education today and will benefit 229 schools across the county.
