Fianna Fáil TD for Louth, Erin McGreehan, has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht of funding under the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2026, which will provide €7 million in capital funding to support more than 4,100 projects nationwide. In County Louth, a total of €239,207.33 has been allocated to community organisations and voluntary groups delivering invaluable services in towns and villages across the county.
Welcoming the announcement, Deputy McGreehan said:
“I am delighted to see almost €240,000 being invested in community organisations across County Louth through the Local Enhancement Programme. This funding will help local groups purchase essential equipment, improve facilities and strengthen the valuable services they provide to people in communities across the constituency.
“Our community and voluntary organisations are at the heart of local life. Whether they are supporting young people, promoting sport, maintaining community facilities, organising local events or providing services for older people, they make an enormous contribution to our towns and villages every day.”
A wide range of organisations across County Louth have been approved for funding.
Deputy McGreehan continued:
“These investments will help ensure these organisations can continue to grow, enhance their facilities and provide opportunities for people of all ages.
“The Local Enhancement Programme continues to make a difference for our community by supporting practical improvements, from building upgrades and maintenance works to new equipment and technology, helping community groups continue the excellent work they do.”
Deputy McGreehan also acknowledged the work of Louth County Council and the Local Community Development Committee in administering the scheme.
Concluding, Deputy McGreehan said:
“I want to congratulate all of the successful groups and thank the many volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Their commitment is what keeps our communities strong, and I am delighted to see their efforts being supported through this funding. I also want to thank Minister Calleary for continuing to invest in community organisations that make such a positive difference in towns and villages across the country.”
