Fianna Fáil TD for Louth, Erin McGreehan, has welcomed the announcement by Louth County Council that contracts have been signed for the Carlingford Regeneration Project.

The council confirmed yesterday that it has appointed Urban Agency, an award-winning international architecture firm, to lead the ambitious regeneration initiative.

Deputy McGreehan said, “I am delighted that Louth County Council has signed the contracts for the Carlingford Regeneration Project. This is most definitely an investment in the future of Carlingford, and I warmly welcome the appointment of Urban Agency to deliver the ambitious ‘Living in Carlingford – Visiting Carlingford’ vision.

She added: “Their appointment is fantastic news. Urban Agency is an award-winning firm with an impressive international reputation. The project is hugely ambitious, and it deserves a partner with the same ambition and expertise to bring it to life.”

The regeneration will focus on enhancing open spaces, particularly around the waterfront, harbour, Market Square, and connecting streets. It will also include improvements to existing tourism and heritage assets, such as the refurbishment of the town’s library building.

Deputy McGreehan concluded by saying that she is looking forward to the works getting underway and when the time comes, seeing the finished product.

Concluding she said, “I am very eager to see this project progress. Carlingford is a place of great national appeal, a tourism hotspot with a unique medieval charm. This regeneration will ensure that its heritage is preserved while the town is revitalised for the future.

“I wish Urban Agency every success as they begin this work, and I look forward to seeing the transformation of Carlingford once the project is completed.”
