Local Fianna Fáil TD, Erin McGreehan has today welcomed the announcement of €7 million for over 5400 projects across the country under the Local Enhancement Programme.

Announced today by her party colleague, Minster Dara Calleary, the Local Enhancement Programme will support 124 projects across County Louth to the tune of €227,247.

The Local Enhancement Programme aims to support local groups with a number of different costs. Since its establishment in November 2024, the funding has supported groups with ongoing running costs and essential capital supports, especially for groups in disadvantages or rural and urban areas.

Almost 4,500 community groups will benefit from the funding they will receive today, further enhancing their groups’ contribution to local communities.

Speaking on the announcement Deputy McGreehan said: “I am absolutely delighted to hear of 124 projects across Louth receiving funding today as part of the Local Enhancement Programme.

“Since its establishment, the Local Enhancement Programme has been a vital support for local run groups across Louth. The funding has helped ease the burden of running costs and allow the groups to further upgrade and expand.

Included in today’s allocation of funding for the first time, is the vital support of small scaled funding for groups to apply for help with their operational costs, a pivotal addition to the Programme, said Deputy McGreehan.

“The addition this year of small scaled funding for the operational costs facing these community groups will be a big help. I understand these local groups provide invaluable work and contributions to our community here in Louth, but that comes with a cost.

Concluding she said: “I’d like to congratulate all the projects and groups who have received funding across Louth today. I’d like to thank my party colleague, Minister Dara Calleary for delivering funding under the Local Enhancement Programme today.

“In Fianna Fáil, we understand the importance of community, and we want to support those local groups who are the backbone of our communities.”
