Louth TD Erin McGreehan has called for more Gardai in Louth, after a recent string of burglaries in the North of the county.
In response to a Parliamentary Question from Deputy McGreehan, Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan confirmed that there were 718 Garda members assigned to the Louth/Cavan/Monaghan Division at the end of 2024, with 372 of those assigned to stations in Louth.
Deputy McGreehan said: “Deputy McGreehan said: “Everybody in our communities here in north Louth must remain vigilant given the recent string of burglaries in the area.
“It is unacceptable and extremely worrying for us all here to have so many neighbours and friends affected by these thugs.
“I will continue raising the need for more Gardai in our communities with my party colleague, Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan.
“A more visible Garda presence locally will help enormously in tackling these burglaries and other incidences of crime.”
