Louth TD Erin McGreehan has praised the efforts of emergency workers from the ESB, Louth County Council, Uisce Eireann and all relevant state bodies who have been dealing with multiple incidents and helping people in the aftermath of Storm Éowyn.
She said: “The efforts made by emergency workers across Louth in the aftermath of this unprecedented Storm have been enormous. They have played an enormous part in getting people’s power restored and getting our communities, including society’s most vulnerable, back on their feet.
“We have seen huge efforts across our communities in Louth to help those in need. For example, the Aura Leisure Centres in Dundalk and Drogheda have made shower and charging facilities available to those without water or power as a result of the storm and Cooley Kickhams and the Geraldines Gaelic Football Clubs have also offered their facilities, as has The Fairways Hotel in Dundalk.
“I want to thank the emergency services for their response to this devastating storm and recognise the community spirit in the response across Louth.
“I understand that some customers in the county are still without power. I am in contact with the ESB and Louth County Council regarding this issue, and we are working to provide as much support as possible. The Humanitarian Scheme is available to assist those living in properties directly affected by Storm Éowyn.”
