Louth General Election candidate Senator Erin McGreehan has welcomed the news that Glenmore Athletics Club (A.C.) has been awarded the Development Club of the Year by Athletics Ireland.

McGreehan said: “I am very proud that Glenmore A.C. is being recognised.

“To be celebrated at a national level for an athletics award is a high achievement and I would like to congratulate all involved..

“As a member of the club and as someone who pushed to make sure that the club received the €500,000 in club funding for the upgrade of the facilities, I am so proud that our club is being recognised at a national level.

“This is a testament to the incredible committee, coaches and athletes that are involved in the club, working so hard every single day of the week – volunteering with just the love of their community and the love of their club.

“Glenmore A.C. is leading the way on inclusion and it has made incredible inroads over the past couple of years in their Athletics For All and other inclusion programmes.

“Bringing in children with additional needs, opening them up to the closely-knit but welcoming community that is Glenmore A.C., has been so important. I am so proud to be a part of this club.

“A huge congratulations to the committee, our chair Dermot Barry and everyone else involved”.
