Louth Senator Erin McGreehan has welcomed the announcement that over 1,200 couple have been referred for publicly-funded AHR since its introduction 12 months ago.
McGreehan, who has been selected to contest the Louth constituency for Fianna Fáil in the next General Election, said the first anniversary of publicly-funded AHR marks a milestone in what has been an unprecedented level of investment into women’s health delivered by Fianna Fáil in government.
She said: “I am thrilled to see that it has been 12 months since the introduction of publicly-funded Assisted Human Reproduction and that over 1,200 couples have been referred.
“I want to acknowledge the efforts made by my party colleague Minister Stephen Donnelly on this issue and across all areas of women’s health.
“In Fianna Fáil we have been progressive and inclusive in supporting women’s health and I have worked hard to help advance this work.
“Publicly funded AHR has been a positive and progressive step forward for our country and I am committed to continuing my work to create a revolution in women’s health, changing mindsets and introducing sensible, modern healthcare to ensure Irish women have full control of their reproductive health.”
